Loewe had some pretty original TVs on its stand at this year's IFA consumer tech show, including a super-wide screen model and a twin-screen TV for viewing extra content or news feeds at the same time as watching TV.
The first model takes the same outsized 21:9 format first seen over at Philips. Loewe's model, however, has a swivel screen that can be flipped round into a vertical position. It's ideal for surfing the web from the comfort of your sofa or for use as a decorative display and it even doubles up as a handy mirror.
A second mirror-cum-monolith model was also on display with a rather intriguing stand. This 160 cm block is basically one big shiny surface with no solid borders or frame. So when used as a TV, content is displayed over the entire front surface, and when switched off, it doubles up as a borderless mirror. As far as concepts go, it's pretty impressive!
Finally, although it's still a research prototype that's nowhere near going into production yet, we found this last product particularly interesting. It's a 46-inch Edge LED TV with an additional screen on the left-hand side of the display. Attached to the main display at an angle, this second screen gives Loewe's concept TV the same kind of 'chin' as seen in some HTC mobiles (Hero, Legend).
The extra screen is designed for viewing interactive or additional content accompanying a TV show or Blu-ray displayed on the main screen.
The second screen can be used for watching TV, following a Twitter feed (via webTV), enjoying multi-angle viewing or watching bonus content while a Blu-ray or TV show plays on the main screen. It can even be used to view stats and commentaries during football matches.
It can be pretty handy for web gaming too, as the second screen can display stats and information about the game, as well as video chat with other players in multiplayer games. That's sure to make cooperative gameplay a whole lot easier.

The German manufacturer is a regular at the IFA trade fair and has a history of showcasing conceptual products that could, one day, go into production. This year, three original TVs were on display on Loewe's stand.

Obviously, such an innovative TV can't come with a bog-standard remote control, so Loewe has designed a touch-sensitive remote for its concept TV. Again, this is still a prototype, but it's certainly an interesting idea. Who knows—maybe the final model will be on show at the IFA 2012 or 2013 trade fair?
