At the IFA 2010, the well-known lens manufacturer, Carl Zeiss, presented a new pair of 720p OLED 3D glasses, due to replace the Cinemizer Plus!
The original Cinemizer Plus 3D glasses are fitted with two built-in screens, each with a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. This means they can be used to watch films in both 2D and in 3D, and give the impression that you're sitting 1.82 metres away from a 1.14-metre screen.
But if that resolution just isn't high enough for you, Carl Zeiss has now announced the upcoming release of the Cinemizer OLED, fitted with two 720p OLED screens. Plus, the system is already compatible with iTunes 3D podcasts, YouTube 3D, NVIDIA 3D Vision and the PS3 for 3D gaming. That's not all though, as the little control box you can see attached to the glasses has an HDMI 1.4 entry port, which should also make the Cinemizer OLED compatible with 3D Blu-rays. Sound is covered by a pair of in-ear earphones built-into the arms of the glasses. Although this type of earphones can make the experience feel more immersive, some of you may find the in-ear design a little intrusive.
These new 3D glasses are due to be released in 2011 and should be priced at around £350-£400 ($515).
