The first pictures of the HTC Desire HD and its 4.3'' widescreen touch-sensitve display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels have begun to appear. Running Android 2.2 (FroYo), the handset is based on solid hardware foundations. The Desire HD, which seems to be a European version of the HTC Evo 4G available on the other side of the pond is a sort of extra large Desire or HD2, the big, widescreen handset that runs Windows Mobile 6.5.
In hardware terms, it matches up to the latest expectations for a high-end smartphone, including an 8 Megapixel camera (the competition is still stuck at 5 MP), 720p video and 4 GB of internal memory that can be extended with a microSD card. The whole thing runs on a Qualcomm SNapdragon processor which runs at 1 GHz.
At the moment, we know nothing about when the new phone will be available or how much it will cost.
