A year after Lexmark, HP has introduced the Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web, an all-in-one that connects up to the internet. The internet connection could be used, among other things, to go online and print cinema tickets, coupons, electronic tickets, road maps and so on.
Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president of the Image and Printing Group at HP, has announced, at a press conference in New York, printers designed for "the age of the iPhone and the iPad".
Printing can now be organised by sending documents to an e-mail assigned to the printer. This answers our recent criticisms concerning the printing modules on offer, often limited to photos. With such a system, everything becomes easily printable!
The Photosmart Premium with TouchSmart Web will be the high-end model in the new 2010/11 range. All will be touch sensitive but not, however, necessarily linked up to the internet. Pricing will be from $99 to $400. Also connected to the internet, the Lexmark S605 is on sale for around the £100 mark.
