Compatibility, installation and accessories
In terms of compatibility, the manufacturer has only done what's really necessary here with support for AMD AM2 and Intel 775 sockets. The Intel system is based on the use of push-pins, as is the case on the original Intel cooler. Although this is practical, it is also very fragile and breakages are not rare. Installation on an AM2 processor also uses the original AMD system. There is a strap on the base of the heatsink and a lever system allows you to arm the system on a base in the motherboard. Simple and effective.
In the box, apart from the fastenings, you'll only find the manual. It gives clear instructions on how to assemble everything. The thermal grease is applied directly.
This is one of the more modest heatsinks in the Cooler Master range. It is not a very high performance model but rather well pitched for its lowish price. The heatsink is in the form of the usual tower with aluminium blades placed one on top of each other horizontally. Three heatpipes link the copper base to the blades.
There is a 120 mm PWM fan. Although it looks like the V8, it is actually very different as they operate at different speeds. Note the presence of a plastic card that helps direct part of the flow of air towards the motherboard. This is with the idea of cooling the motherboard.

A good compromise
The Hyper TX2 is the direct competitor of the OCZ Vendetta 2 and although the Cooler Master has a better cooling performance, it is best used with processors that do not heat up too much. In tems of noise levels, the fan is definitely not silent. It is audible but only becomes annoying when working towards the top of its limit. At low speeds, it is fine and other components in your computer may even make more noise and cover it.
