Battery Life: no need to last forever

When you look at Bluetooth headsets for a while, you realise that there all sorts of battery lives available.

From 4 hours up to 20 hours (that's rare), it's hard to know how much you really need.

However, when you think about it, you don't need incredible battery life. Most people don't have very long conversations on their mobiles, and even after 20 or 30 calls of five minutes, you've only been talking for three hours. What's really important is battery life that's good enough to keep the headset on standby so it's ready when you need it.

Sony Ericsson has a large collection of Bluetooth accessories, which includes the VH-310, a simple headset that could well be a great buy.

Design: simple but powerful

There's nothing over-the-top with the VH-310's design, which is restrained and spill.  There are several tips for the in-ear headphone, allowing it to hold the headset firmly in place.  There's also an ear strap, but it's rather bulky and a bit annoying.

The battery life is incredible, reaching ten or more hours to give you more than enough time to recharge.  For once, we can congratulate a manufacturer for making an affordable product but without cutting back on essential features.

Audio Quality: Acceptable, but that's it

We don't need to spend too much time looking at the audio on the VH-310, because there isn't actually much to say.  You can have a phone conversation without any problems, either for you or for the other caller, but the quality isn't excellent either.  Amongst other things, the anti-noise processing is not very powerful.

Sony Ericsson has managed to produce a decent entry-level headset that is perfectly useable but doesn't suffer from poor battery life.  We're impressed!

For an entry-level headset, this Sony Ericsson is a perfectly reasonable proposition. It's perfect for frequent--but not constant--use.
