Neck strap included

A while ago, it was fashionable to wear your phone around your neck on a strap, and now it's the turn of headsets.

In fact, the BH-703 come with a very traditional neck strap. It's handy if you're going for a jog, for instance: you want to be able to answer your phone if you get a call, but not keep the headset in your ear the whole time.

Every mobile phone manufacturer has a range of compatible accessories, like the BH-703, a very standard Bluetooth headset from Nokia.

Fit and finishing: extra earplugs

With just a single earpiece, the BH-703 sits easily in place.  With three different sizes of earplug, you can choose the right size for you.  There's also a separate ear clip, which we suggest you use to keep it in place.

It's straight and flat, rather than curving in to meet your face.  That's not necessarily at bad thing, as the mic is far enough forward to pick up the sound of your voice but doesn't rub against your cheek.

However, we were less impressed by the plasticky finish, which is a little bit cheap for a high-end product like this.

Audio Quality: very decent

Unsurprisingly, the BH-703 does its job well: that is, it allows you to make a clear handsfree phone call.  The mic works with electronic filters that do a good job of keeping the signal clean.  There aren't too many problems with the earpiece, which produces a good clear sound in another demonstration of the success of in-ear headphones.  We had no problems with Bluetooth reception.  These aren't headphones, so it's not even worth considering what music sounds like.

The BH-703 isn't a bad headset, but it's reasonable to expect a lot more from a high-end model.

Nokia pushes the BH-703 as a pretty high-end headset, but we remain to be convinced by its physical finish and the quality of the audio it produces, neither of which stand up to much scrutiny.
