Strange Branding

There's a sort of rubbery rectangle, with a fabric strip showing the AKG logo glued to it attached to the cable. It slides up and down the whole length of the cable, but we're still not sure what it's actually for ...
Despite AKG's decision to overhaul its headphone collection, two pairs have not been redesigned, and the K313s are the first of them.
