As a complement to the very recent GeForce GTX 580, NVIDIA has also brought out a more accessible version, the GTX 570. We've tested both models. Here's our verdict.

Seven months after the release of the GeForce 400 series, NVIDIA has given us the 500 series. The GeForce GTX 580 is the first fruit of this development of the Fermi architecture. It holds plenty of promise: better performance, lower energy consumption and, above all, lower noise levels. Lets see what it gives in practice.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 takes on the main traits of the GTX 580, though it is slightly scaled down. It still uses the new Fermi revision (GF110), but the clocks are a little lower, as are the number of processing units (480 against 512). What impact will this have on performance? Answers below!

As ever, you can find the detailed breakdown of our tests in the graphics card Face-off. The Graphics card performance index also gives a rapid overview of all the models tested.
