The Radeon HD 4770 512 MB is the first ATI chip at 40 nm. As the chip is smaller it ought to give off less heat and consume less energy than its predecessors. Otherwise, its architecture is identical to the other Radeon HD 4000s aimed at the entry level end of the range between the Radeon HD 4830 and the 4850.To get an idea of its level of performance, we tested the card on nine different games with three resolutions, and with and without texturing filters activated. We also took temperature, energy consumption and noise readings for the card.
