Google Android Market Up On The Internet

Google took advantage of its presentation of the new version of Android, Honeycomb, to announce the opening of its app store, Android Market. The store represents a useful platform for consulting the tens of thousands of applications available for smartphones and tablets running on the system that's constantly gaining ground.

Google continues to plough its own furrow, as ever trying to better replicate the success of Apple and its AppStore.

Android Market has a clear interface, plenty of information (more space) and offers easy browsing through applications developed for Android. The system of classification by category has undergone a rethink, a selection of free and paid applications are offered and each app comes with user write-ups.

The arrival of new, practical tools, such as sharing a favourite application across social networks, should mean the Google store can gain even more ground on its target, Apple.

The nicest new feature is certainly being able install an application on your device remotely. All you need to do is connect (Gmail user and password), choose your apps and click to load the software on your smartphone and/or tablet. Note, this is only available on devices running on Android 2.2 and higher.

Of course, the site also has a 'My Market Account' area, from which you can manage your previous purchases and so on.

In other words, any resemblance with iTunes is entirely incidental...
