Who hasn't hit the 'Send' button too soon, accidentally sending an e-mail to the wrong person, spotting a typo at the last minute, or without the attachment you meant to send...? Undo Send is an optional function in Gmail that allows you to call back a sent message. The great news is that you can now do so for up to 30 seconds after you hit 'Send'!
For those of you who've already used Google Labs, you can add this function by clicking on the green conical flask icon in the top right of your inbox. Alternatively, you can click on 'more' (top left) then 'even more' then 'Labs'. You'll then need to select 'Gmail Labs' from the right-hand column.
If you can't see the green conical flask icon then you can access Google Labs add-ons by clicking on 'Settings' in the top right of your inbox, then go to the 'Labs' tab.
A long list of add-on functions is then displayed, some of which look really handy, whereas others ... Anyway, scroll down to 'Undo send' then select 'Enable' and save your changes. Now, each time you send a message you'll have the option of cancelling it:
The function itself isn't new. What is new though, is that Google now allows you to select how long the undo option is available for. Just go the 'Settings' menu in the top right of your Gmail inbox. Then, in the 'General' tab you'll see a drop-down menu where you can set the cancellation period from 5 to 30 seconds.
