Geek Zone: Stuff for Geeks

Here at DigitalVersus, we're always testing useful everyday electronics, but we've also got plenty of time for all those things that aren't strictly necessary, but which we love anyway. So welcome to Geek Zone, the home of all those things you never even knew you needed ... until now!

Our approach
In the Geek Zone we can't really use measurements and standard tests to judge the quality of a product. You can't really judge an electronic insect on its speed or its power consumption, for example. The main question we're trying to answer here is: 'OK, we like the look of it, but in practice, is it worth the money?'
Outside of our usual areas of expertise (computers, mobiles, digital cameras etc.), we already have a reviews page dedicated to Original Designs, but plenty of the geeky toys and gadgets we all secretly love don't really fit onto into that category. That's why we've created this new section of the site, aptly named the Geek Zone.

There are thousands of gadgety gizmos out there all packed with flashing lights and electronic technology, and all vying for our attention and our hard-earned cash. Our aim here isn't to go testing each and every one of them. Here, you'll only find products we're genuinely interesting in finding out whether or not are worth buying, either for ourselves or as a gift. As professional geeks with years of experience buying gizmos that turn out to be junk, either for ourselves or for our long-suffering friends and relations (and which generally end up at the back of a cupboard), we thought it was about time we put our unique talent to the service of our readers. We're also keen to hear what products you've recently found simply irresistible, which have been worth every penny, and which you've packed straight off to the Oxfam shop. Don't hesitate to drop us a line.

Bring on the contenders ...
