It was one of our readers who first pointed it out: our test of the P24W-5 monitor isn't up to date any more: Fujistu has changed the panel inside the display.  During an update, the manufacturer has switched from using PVA technology to IPS.

One of our readers had a problem with his (PVA-based) P24W so he sent it off to get repaired, but the one that came back had used IPS instead. He also noticed that his new monitor had less contrast, but that's hardly a surprise, as it's one thing that sets apart the two technologies. Logically enough, he should also be enjoying much wider viewing angles, as that's one area where IPS displays have the upper hand.
