Around thirty municipalities will be receiving dosimeters from the Ministry of Ecology manufactured by the French subsidiary (SATIMO) of Microwave Vision. These devices, referenced as EME Spy 140s, make it possible to measure electromagnetic waves emitted by wi-fi, radios, mobile phone antennae and so on. The dosimeter is supposed to display the electromagnetic field for each frequency bandwidth. Satimo says that the portable dosimeters it's delivering will measure the level of exposure of 14 frequency bands going from 88 MHz to 5850 MHz. It also says that the EME Spy 140 can identify and measure separately the emissions from various devices.

With exposure to electromagnetic waves a subject for debate for some time, the goal of this operation is to give municipalities a means of replying with precision to the questions of their inhabitants. To measure levels of exposure and determine if they are acceptable, the device uses the levels published by the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation) as a reference as mandated by the World Health Organisation.
