    a notice to the staff

Hi, while doing some comparison research on the Sony HX7V and HX9V for my blog I noticed that the comparison shots from the Sony A33 and A55 are out of focus. The 2 zoom crops are as sharp as they should be.

    can you reshoot these?

Hello, and thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately, these are the best shots we got. Each of our tests is run at least twice, and in this particular case we even had another try with a new lens...
There is a known random problem with some Sony 18-55 SAM lenses which makes them vary quite a lot in quality. In this case we had three poor samples (one with the Alpha 33, two with the Alpha 55). We did get a better one with the Alpha 450, however.
We decided to include these shots as they represent what an ordinary customer may get, and we added a paragraph about the lens in our Alpha 55 review.
We feel that re-running tests until we get a good lens and perfect focusing would be kind of cheating, as the tests should represent what our readers could end up buying, even if every camera or lens sold should meet minimum quality standards...
