Flash Compatible With Apple Handsets At Last?

Adobe is showing itself capable of flexibility by allowing users of handsets running on iOS, the Apple iPhone system, to play videos in Flash.

Apple still hasn't compromised on not allowing its iPhones, iPod Touch and iPads to play Adobe Flash, a widely used format, in Safari, the in-house browser, as it sees Flash as too unstable.

After several years, Adobe have ended up coming through with a solution. The software developer has just made Flash Media Server 4.5 compatible with iOS. The update of this tool now allows the conversion of Flash content to HTML5, a format recognised by Apple on Safari.

Note, this solution won't allow you to convert all Flash content. While streaming is supported, ads, games and sites based entirely on Flash won't be.

Moreover, while the solution is free for users, video suppliers will need to equip themselves with an Adobe plug-in on sale for $995.

Will Apple react?
