The browser is being updated faster than ever, and the latest version has been available to download from Mozilla's site since yesterday afternoon—barely two months after the release of Firefox 5.0. Version 7 is set to arrive before the end of the year.
There's a full list of the new features in the release notes, but here are some of the highlights of Firefox 6.0:
- domain names are now highlighted in the address bar
- Firefox Sync has been improved
- the launch time is now shorter
- WebSocket is now used for bi-directional, full-duplex communications between a web page and the server
- Scratchpad has been added
- a new about:permissions page handles cookies, stored passwords, offline data and geolocalisation for every site
Versions of the new browser are available for PC, Mac and Linux from Mozilla.
