Filters: Choose your favourite brands

We've added another powerful new filter to your range of options for sorting through our test: multiple choice selections.  The idea is simple enough: rather than choosing just one manufacturer at a time, you can pick out all of those that interest you.

So, the first item to get the multiple choice treatment is manufacturers.  When you first open a Product Survey, products from every brand are listed, but if you click the list, a menu pops up and you can uncheck the ones you're not interested in.

That means you can knock up your very own selection.  For instance, you might be looking at the nearly fifty TVs in our Product Survey: 40'' to 49'' TVs, but then decide you're only interested in the following:
  • 40'' and 42'' screens
  • made by Samsung or Sony
  • with a score of at least four stars
  • no more than £1000
  • and with the cheapest first
Then you can click on the Permalink button to get a URL that points to exactly your choice so you can come back to it later or share it with a friend.  Right now, there are nine different TVs that meet the selection above, but with time that number will change as we test more products and the prices of existing products fall.  These permanent links, though, will always point to the models that match what you're looking for.

This new brand-based filter has been added to all our Product Surveys, so go and take a look.  You might like to try it here:
