It's been a long time coming, but it's here at last: you can now choose sort through our range of LCD monitors based on the type of display panel they use. Not all LCD panels are identical, and manufacturers use a variety of different technologies. The most widespread of these relies on the twisted nematic effect to produce inexpensive TN panels--but this technology suffers from poor viewing angles, especially when you look at the screen from above and below. Other technologies like IPS, MVA and PVA combat this problem, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. You can read this guide for more information on understanding the tech specs of monitors you're interested in.
Let's see how it works by looking at the Product Survey: 23'' to 28'' Monitors. You can set up a filter like this:
- any brand
- any size
- any price
- only monitors with PVA or IPS panels
- sorted by their score
At the moment, there aren't too many monitors with MVA panels in this particular survey, but if that's what you're interested in, why not head over to our full set of monitor tests where you can find some more.
