ADATA Technology has just announced what it's calling the thinning USB 3.0 external hard drive in the world: the DashDrive Elite HE720.

Indeed, this is one compact hard drive. At 117 x 79 x 8.9 mm and weighing 164 grammes, it should fit discreetly into any average-sized pocket.

ADATA gave it a brushed metal finish that's scratch- and smudge-resistant; a good selling point for anyone (like us) who's sick of black glossy plastic.

And, of course, the HE720 has a micro-USB 3.0 interface. ADATA hasn't released the transfer rates yet, so we'll probably have to wait until we get it into our labs before we can see what kind of performance it gives.

It will come in a single size, 500 GB, for around £75 with a 3-year warranty.
