Bookeen has been rather discreet about the imminently arriving Cybook Odyssey HD Frontlight e-reader. However, this new pal for the excellent Cybook Odyssey comes with an HD screen and built-in Frontlight technology for reading in low-light conditions.

Bookeen seems to be striking back at Amazon's new Kindle Paperwhite and Kobo's Glo by launching its own e-book reader with HD screen and integrated lighting system. The Cybook Odyssey HD Frontlight has been spotted with a European retail price of €129 (approx. £105) and should arrive on shelves in November.

Although the announcement isn't yet 100% official, the arrival of this upgraded version could well see the original Cybook Odyssey get a price cut. That's definitely good news, as this e-reader has a sleek design handles well, and has an accurate and responsive multipoint touchscreen.

Bookeen's new Cybook Odyssey HD Frontlight e-reader looks well-placed to take on its market rivals. We can't wait to get it into our test lab for a closer look.
