It seems like Android is everywhere these days, so maybe you aren't surprised to hear that Google's mobile OS is now set to equip a Dvico media centre. Apart from a few Google TV devices, which met with lukewarm success, an Android-based media centre is yet to come to market. That's all set to change soon though, as Dvico gears up to release the Xroid A1. And guess who's been sent a pre-series model to take a look at?
We've already reported on the upcoming Dvico Xroid A1, mainly because its release date keeps being pushed further and further back. However, it looks like we won't have to wait too much longer for Dvico's Android-based media centre, as the Korean manufacturer has just sent us a pre-release test version of the product.
On the inside, this media centre runs a modified version of Android 2.2. There's no sign of Google TV, Android 3 or Android Market come to that, as a catalogue of custom applications is on had to add utilities and games to Dvico's Android media centre. Plus, the product's web browser can be controlled using the remote or a USB keyboard and mouse kit.
Unfortunately, the internal software is still very new and isn't stable enough to allow us to test this media centre in full. Stay tuned to DigitalVersus for more information on the Dvico Xroid A1 as soon as a software update becomes available.

The Xroid A1 can be controlled with a smartphone using a special Android application.
