Verdict

Once more, a thumbs down for this product. The main reason: the matte finish comes off too easily; merely brushing your finger over it will remove it.

Okay, so you don’t spend your time with your fingers on the screen. Nevertheless, we don’t like the idea of having to carry the spray can with you wherever you go to touch up the finish. Especially as the can is rather large (400 ml).

Among some of the non-destructive and slightly out-there solutions, one stands out: the use of a dulling spray to give your glossy panel a matte finish. Several types of sprays exist and on the advice of someone who works in the audiovisual industry and who regularly uses this solution, we turned our attention to a semi-matte product.

Above, you have the demo video of application of the spray on a Toshiba NB100 netbook. The operation is simple. You do nevertheless need to take care not to create excessive flows of liquid from over-application in a given zone.

Is the screen less reflective?

Yes. Reflections are reduced by this extra layer. That said, the layer does add micro-zones of reflectivity if application of the spay is not totally uniform.
