HP had experimented with a series of promotions - $100 in the United States - to boost sales of its TouchPad. The temporary price cut looks as if it's going to become permanent.

The 16 GB version has now been reduced from $499 to $399 (compared to around £400 in the UK currently).

The 32 GB model has been cut from $599 to $499 (£480 in the UK).

The TouchPad has a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, an LED backlit IPS panel, a single micro USB connector that is used to charge it or transfer data from a computer, a 1.3 Megapixel webcam at the front and a  Beats Audio sound module at the back, very similar to the speakers we've seen on recent HP laptops.
