DisplaySearch Report Bad News for Intel and Microsoft

Only a few days after our first look at Windows 8 left us impressed, analysts at DisplaySearch have published their predictions about the OS' likely performance as well as the future market share for Intel's processors.

Neither of the American giants is likely to be happy about what they read in the report if these charts are anything to go by:




According to estimates from DisplaySearch, Intel's market share over the coming years is represented by the orange tips at the very top
It's a pattern that rival AMD is more used to!

Compared to Intel's CPUs, the launch of Windows 8 almost looks like a success story ...



Windows 8 is that tiny bit of red!

DisplaySearch thinks Apple will be on top for at least another five years.

The new study assumes worldwide sales of 60 million tablets this year, up 211% on 2010, growing to 100 million in 2012 (+67%) and 150 million in 2013 (+50%).
