Despite the holidays, our audience figures climbed again in August, beating July and June, and the six months before that too!

We had almost a quarter of a million visitors in August 2010, which makes an average of 7 500 people a day: between you, that makes for three quarters of a million pages this month.

That last line shows that you spent an average of seven and a half minutes on every visit.

A quick look at the charts

Visits: August 2007 to 2010

Do you like reading our reviews?  Then tell your friends!  We don't do any advertising and depend entirely on your word-of-mouth to build our reputation ... you can find us on both Facebook and Twitter.

What's new: September 2010

The big news at the start of the month is the IFA show in Berlin, and several of us will be there.  We're expecting to see plenty of 3D TVs, as well as a 31'' OLED display from LG.  And it seems that after nobody (really) managed to kill the iPhone, the hunt is now on for an iPad killer, with plenty of new tablets set to be unveiled.

You might have also noticed that we brought together tests of compact and bridge cameras in August.  That wasn't a one-off: over the next few weeks, we're going to be brining all of our TV reviews for 32'' models and up onto a single page, and the same will soon be true of netbooks and notebooks.  If you're feeling a little swamped, don't forget you can use the filters to divide the products up according to your budget, our rating, the specs ...

After our tests of vacuum cleaners and low-energy light bulbs, our next new tests are also going to be domestically-orientated, but not quite what you'd expect: electric razors.  Spare a poor thought for our journalists: they get precious little sleep as it is but they still need to be presentable for the daily round of press conferences.  They've all been making the most of the various shavers lying around int he lab.

And if you're wondering why we still haven't got round to testing fridges (like we promised ...) then it's because the first one we received was so damaged en route that we didn't dare actually put any food in it ...

We hope the first few days back at work aren't too tough and good luck to all of you starting a new school year!
