Camera Review: Sony NEX-5 Hybrid

It was only launched three weeks ago, but it's already made a big splash: the Sony NEX-5 is a hybrid camera combining a compact body with interchangeable lenses and a large 14 Megapixel sensor.  Its interface is what really stands out, though, as is consists of a single scroll wheel and just two buttons.

After Olympus, Panasonic and Samsung, Sony is the latest manufacturer to enter the world of hybrid digital cameras with a new combination of compact camera bodies and interchangeable lenses.

But while the first three sought to steal market share from entry-level digital SLRs, the new Sony NEX-5, which we've already taken a first look at, has a stripped-down interface designed to appeal to photographers without any technical background.

It's the first camera in this category aimed squarely at the general public, and the NEX-5 has won as much praise from those who enjoy its automatic features as it has criticism for its stripped-back interface.
