Camera Reviews: Panasonic ZX3 and Fuji F80 EXR

The Panasonic ZX3 and Fujifilm F80EXR both have big zoom lenses (8x and 10x respectively), but are more compact than regular superzoom point-and-shoots. They therefore offer an interesting alternative to their bulkier counterparts, with some similar features (720p HD video) but with some significant differences too.

The Panasonic Lumix ZX3 has a 25-200 mm lens and a 14-Megapixel CCD sensor. It has a basic set of controls and is principally designed for beginners, with no manual modes but a very effective Intelligent Auto setting.

The Fujifilm Finepix F80 EXR has a 27-270 mm lens and a 12-Megapixel Super CCD EXR sensor. With slightly more advanced controls than the ZX3, Fuji's F80 has a manual mode and an EXR mode for taking 6-Megapixel shots with enhanced dynamic range or ISO.
