Conclusion
The Nikon Coolpix S5100 lives up to expectations: it's a basic camera with inconsistent build quality that's counting on its cute, colourful looks and its low price to help you forget about its only just acceptable picture quality (that's really quite bad in telephoto mode!).
The Canon Ixus 220 HS is a nice surprise. It takes good-quality pictures, it's very well made and it's user-friendly. You'd be hard pushed to find anything better in the same price range.
