Conclusion
As a first attempt at an expert compact, the Samsung EX1 is certainly a success. It's a nice camera to use, with decent performances to match. It does have a few small teething problems, most of which could probably be corrected by a simple firmware update. It also doesn't handle noise quite as well as its main rival, the Canon G11.
The Canon PowerShot SX280 HS is a successful update of the SX260 HS, bringing Wi-Fi connectivity and the DIGIC 6 image processor for boosted responsiveness and improved picture quality. All in all, this is a very good superzoom compact. Still, competitors are already moving ahead, sometimes with better technology and a wider range of options.
