Conclusion
While the new sensor used in Canon's PowerShot G1 X is excellent, the rest of the camera left us wanting more. While it's a perfectly respectable expert compact, we were hoping for a more impressive, higher-end affair, with a proper, top-notch optical viewfinder, a faster zoom lens at telephoto settings and a more advanced video mode.
The Canon PowerShot SX280 HS is a successful update of the SX260 HS, bringing Wi-Fi connectivity and the DIGIC 6 image processor for boosted responsiveness and improved picture quality. All in all, this is a very good superzoom compact. Still, competitors are already moving ahead, sometimes with better technology and a wider range of options.
