We've all been wondering what image quality will be like in a camera with a 50x zoom—especially since the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS is no bigger in size than a standard bridge camera. Can it keep image quality consistent, with good levels of sharpness at wide-angle and telephoto settings, and both in the centre of the frame and around the edges? It's a tall order.

You may also want to compare the SX50's ISO test results with those of the SX40. Progress isn't all that striking, even if the SX50 seems to smooth images a little less at high-sensitivity settings.
