Our test lab has got rather busy this autumn. As a result, some cameras are getting tested in the lab a fair while before their full reviews can be published. The Canon PowerShot S110 is one such model, as test shots from this camera are already online and ready to view and compare in the Face-Off.

The Canon S110 is a sleek little expert compact. It offers all the settings you'd expect from this kind of advanced pocket camera, but has the added advantage of an interface that actually let's you use them all effectively (notably thanks to the settings wheel + lens ring + touchscreen).

Compared with the S100, the main changes in the S110 concern design and handling, although these remain quite discreet. The S110 uses the same lens as the S100, so it's no surprise to see very similar results from our test scenes. All in all, quality is on the better side of average compared with other current expert compacts (see Canon S110 vs Canon S100, Samsung EX2F, Panasonic LX7 and Sony RX100).

S110 iso test - sample shots

Canon does claim to have made a slight change to the sensor. However, this hasn't had any major impact on the ISO test results—noise and smoothing appear at 1600 ISO, as with the S100.

Our full review of the Canon PowerShot S110 will be coming in the next few weeks. In the meantime, head on over to the Face-Off and take a look at its test shots for yourself.
