With the exception of the Sony NEX-7, recently released interchangeable lens compacts seem to have mostly been updates rather than all-new cameras. But while the Panasonic GX1 is effectively a new and improved GF1 and the Samsung NX200 is an upgraded NX100, the new features in each camera are still worth a look.

The Panasonic Lumix GX1 is a mirrorless micro four-thirds compact camera. It has a 16-Megapixel sensor, loads of advanced settings and customisation options, a touchscreen, and an innovative 14-42 mm X compact pancake lens with electronic zoom.

The Samsung NX200 isn't quite as advanced as the GX1 and is equipped with the less common NX lens mount. There's no touchscreen, but the kit lens has a handy iFn control for adjusting the main camera settings quickly and easily. Plus, the 20-Megapixel APS sensor is pretty impressive ... on paper, at least.
