Apple is following in the footsteps of car manufacturers, it seems, as the firm is contacting users who bought an iMac with a 1 TB hard drive between 2009 and 2011 to recall models with faulty parts. Apple is seeking to contact owners of 21.5" and 27" iMac computers with a 1 TB Seagate hard drive, sold between October 2009 and July 2011. You can find out if you're affected by entering your iMac serial number on this special page on Apple's website. You'll then be able to find out more about how to get the hard drive replaced. The original 1 TB HDD seems to be giving up the ghost rather more early than expected.
