Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Sony. After user data was stolen following a massive hack of the firm's Qriocity and PlayStation Network services, Sony has now announced that the personal details and some card details of 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment account holders have also been obtained. That makes 77 million + 24.6 million = 101.6 million Sony user accounts that have now been compromised.

Sony has unfortunately just beaten its own record, as along with the 77 million users' personal details stolen from PSN and Qriocity accounts, the firm has now discovered that a further 24.6 million Sony Online Entertainment accounts have also been hacked. That makes a new high score in terms of online data theft, with 101.6 million user accounts compromised!

What's new this time though, is that Sony is certain the card number, name and address of at least 20,000 people have definitely been stolen (all non-US residents). These people will be contacted by Sony in due course. As for the rest of the service's users, Sony isn't sure whether their information has been obtained or not and so, as usual, the firm is advising all SOE account holders to pay close attention to movements in their bank account, to beware of potential scams, as well as to change their passwords etc.

Sony has announced a forthcoming compensation package for SOE account holders.
