Intel Core i5 2300

The Intel Core i5 2300 is one of the Core i5 2500K's little brothers.  It shares most of the other processor's essential features, including Turbo mode, but is a little slower.  Its four cores run at between 2.8 GHz (normal speed) and 3.1 GHz (in Turbo mode), depending on how many cores are used at once.

Its name has lost the final 'K', meaning that it has an Intel HD Graphics 2000 chip, unlike the i5 2500K's HD Graphics 3000.  It also loses out on advanced overclocking features.


The Core i5 2300 beats the performance of an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T (six cores), and is just ahead of a Core i7 920.  It also does well in games, where it even manages to pull easily ahead of the Core i7 870.
