A6boxAMD has just brought out twelve new APUs. They have the same spec as the previous models however, except that AMD has upped the clocks by 100 MHz. No great innovations in store then.

To recap, an APU groups the processor and graphics solution on the same die, allowing users to dispense with a discrete graphics card as long as they have a compatible motherboard. This is practical for desktops and economises power, theoretically increasing the battery life of laptops.

Desktop range

- A8-3870K: 4 cores, 3 GHz, Radeon HD 6550D at 600 MHz (400 units) – $135
- A8-3820: 4 cores, 2.5 GHz, Turbo at 2.8 GHz, Radeon HD 6550D at 600 MHz (400 units) – NC
- A6-3670K: 4 cores, 2.7 GHz, Radeon HD 6530D at 444 MHz (320 units) – $115
- A6-3620: 4 cores, 2.2 GHz, Turbo at 2.5 GHz, Radeon HD 6530D at 444 MHz (320 units) – NC
- A4-3420: 2 cores, 2.8 GHz, Radeon HD 6410D at 600 MHz (160 units) – NC

The K versions have the advantage of having unlocked CPU and GPU multipliers. This allows you to overclock the chips easily.

Notebook range

- A8-3520M: 4 cores, 1.6 GHz, Turbo at 2.5 GHz, Radeon HD 6620G at 444 MHz (400 units), TDP 35W
- A6-3430MX: 4 cores, 1.7 GHz, Turbo at 2.4 GHz, Radeon HD 6520G at 400 MHz (320 units), TDP 45W
- A6-3420M: 4 cores, 1.5 GHz, Turbo at 2.4 GHz, Radeon HD 6520G at 400 MHz (320 units), TDP 35W
- A4-3330MX: 2 cores, 2.2 GHz, Turbo at 2.6 GHz, Radeon HD 6480G at 444 MHz (240 units), TDP 45W
- A4-3320M: 2 cores, 2.0 GHz, Turbo at 2.6 GHz, Radeon HD 6480G at 444 MHz (240 units), TDP 35W
- A4-3305M: 2 cores, 1.9 GHz, Turbo at 2.5 GHz, Radeon HD 6480G at 592 MHz (160 units), TDP 35W
