Following in the steps of Altec Lansing with its Boom Box iMT 800, it’s over to JVC to hold out its hands to the 70s/80s revival with the 21st century Kaboom.

Which of us has never seen this sort of massive cylinder on the shoulders of some young street dancer? Ghetto-blasters are back and they mean business! Audio players make way!

The new RV-NB50 Kaboom takes on the look of its 20th century predecessors with its CD player and FM radio along with an iPod dock and an aux in. Planned for release at the end of the month in the US, it'll be on sale for the not inconsequent sum of $800.

JVC also used CES to announce a micro-stack iPod system. As well as the iPod dock, the NX-D2 has an FM tuner, a CD player and a USB Host, all hooked up to 3-way, 230 watt speakers.
