SanDisk has added a new memory card reader to its range. According to the manufacturer, the ImageMate Multi-Card Reader will stand out as one of the fastest USB 2.0 peripherals on the market. If it really does reach the promised 34 MB/s, then this card reader won't have any problems taking first place.
To get results like that, though, you'll need to use quality memory cards. We used the following: a Samsung Micro SDHC 4 GB Class 6; a SanDisk Extreme IV 8 GB (CF); a SanDisk Extreme III 16 GB (SDHC) and a Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo.
The Multi-Card Reader looks great, with a thin frame in glossy black plastic. As usual with SanDisk, you can also stand it upright, but this time there's a magnetic base.
As promised, this is indeed a very fast card reader, and easily beats our previous record-holders. With a SanDisk Extreme IV, we measured read speeds of 30.2 MB/s, very close to the top speeds announced by the manufacturer.
