The  Canon PowerShot SX120 doesn't represent much of an evolution.  It now includes 10 Megapixel DIGIC 4 sensor, but its stabilised 10x optical zoom (36-360 mm in 24 x 36 equivalent) still isn't wide-angle.  Its maximum sensitivity is 1600 ISO and it's battery-powered.

Just like its predecessor, the SX120 still doesn't have HD video or a mini HDMI mode, and the 230 000 pixel resolution is just about acceptable for a 3'' screen.

The Canon PowerShot SX120 IS will be available in August 2009 for £229.

The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS is the next step for the SX10 IS that we tested in January, with a new 12 Megapixel sensor in place of the 10 Megapixels available on its predecessor.  More importantly, though, it finally offers a HD video mode (720p, 30 fps, H.264 codec, .MOV).  To welcome this new feature, the SX20 IS also gains a mini HDMI output.

Elsewhere, there are few new features, with the same stabilised 20x optical zoom, rotating LCD screen (230 000 pixels on a 2.5'' screen) and the standard manual mode (PSAM).

The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS will be available in August for £399.
