RIM first launched the BlackBerry Storm 9500 almost a year ago. The handset wasn't an immediate success, despite including an original clickable screen. The second version will be available in the US and the UK soon."Much as we do appreciate the innovative aspect of the Storm--the clickthrough screen is most interesting--sadly the screen itself lacks in precision and software is too slow at times. Hopefully the update will work wonders…" That's how we ended our test of the first version of the Storm, which got three stars in our review.
WiFi at last
The new Storm 2 will have an entirely touchscreen interface, but the clickable screen that popped into the case is gone. An OS update should also make the handset more rapid than its predecessor. Elsewhere though, not much else has changed: it's still a bulky phone with 3G+, Bluetooth and a 3.2 Megapixel camera. It will however get WiFi, something that was painfully absent from a high-end handset like the first version of the Storm.
