BenQ Announces XL2420T and XL2420TX 24'' 120 Hz Monitors

As their names suggest, these two monitors have very similar tech specs. They are both 24-inch monitors with Full HD TN screens and with LED backlighting. They have an advertised response time of 2 ms, a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and have VGA, DVI HDMI (x2) and DisplayPort entries.

Like all screens that are accredited for NVIDIA 3D Vision 2, the XL2420T and XL240TX have a Lightboost function which boosts the screen brightness when displaying 3D content, effectively compensating for the dulling effect of 3D glasses.

One interesting thing about these two models though, is that as well as the regular set of buttons on the side of the screen for access to the internal menu, they also have a wired remote for switching between three different modes: FPS1 (developed for Counter-Strike 1.6), FPS2 (developed for Counter-Strike Source) and RTS (developed for real-time strategy games).

The only difference between the two models is that the XL2420TX has the infrared emitter needed to sync the screen with the 3D glasses already built-in. Plus, it's compatible with a wide range of 3D sources (Blu-ray 3D, PlayStation 3 and PC) and comes bundled with the NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Glasses kit.

The XL2420T, on the other hand, is only compatible with PC sources and you'll have to buy the NVIDIA kit separately (approx. £150).

We're looking forward to getting our hands on these two monitors, but we may have to wait a little while yet, as although the XL2420T is due in stores this month, there's no release date yet for the XL2420TX.
