This summer Yahoo fell out of third place on our list, upstaged by Babylon. We attribute this to Babylon's sneaky method of installing automatically when you install other software that advertises its toolbar. Once installed, Babylon replaces the home page and default search engine on all web browsers on your computer with its own. And then it's goodbye Google, hello Babylon!

Babylon is one of those programmes that's easy to install and a pain in the neck to uninstall. So much so that there are a number of websites that offer their own solutions as to how to get rid of it, such as gHacks, which has its own tutorial for removing the toolbar.
Basically, there are two steps to deleting Babylon. First, you have to uninstall Babylon Search/Babylon Toolbar from your computer. Then you have to clean your PC with an anti-adware programme such as AdwCleaner. We recommend taking it a step further and deleting the cleaner once it's done.
As you must know if you've already tried it, Babylon takes a lot longer to get rid of than to get. The best advice, of course, is to always pay attention to what you install on your computer!
