At Computex Asus has taken the opportunity to show off its UX21, a powerful, light, slimline, ultra.

The Samsung Series 9 isn't going to be the MacBook Air's only competitor for long. Asus has announced the release of its UX21 for September.

It looks to have a 12 inch screen, has an aluminium alloy shell, weighs less than 1.1 Kg and measures 17 mm at its thickest point. It's equipped with a Core i7 processor, a chiclet style keyboard with metal keys, a glass touchpad that resembles the one on the MacBook Air and SSD storage. Asus also tells that it comes out of standby mode in just 2 seconds.

As with the competition, its weak point seems to be its reduced connectivity. Here there are just 3 USB ports (one of which is a USB 3.0). There's no built-in optical disk drive and the video connectivity (Display Port out and mini HDMI) isn't as practical as it could be. As things stand, no pricing has been given but we're certainly looking forward to getting our hands one of these UX21s to run it through its paces!
