Viewing angles
Shown above, viewing angles are sufficiently large so as not to be a problem. At 4 meters from the screen, you shouldn’t go more than 2 meters to the side in order to avoid any degradation of the image.
The "large sized" version of the previously tested Sharp Aquos LC-32X20E, the LC-46X20E has identical  characteristics on paper as its 32 sibling.

Actually, in the first test carried out with our sensor we can see that the contrast is very similar.  In Standard mode while brightness is at 358.2 cd/m², black goes down to 0.24 cd/m².  These values enable watching movies and TV in moderately lit rooms while still conserving a good deep level of black.  In Cinema mode, it is even possible to decrease black to 0.17 cd/m² by lowering brightness to 215 cd/m², an ideal setting for watching movies in the dark.  Furthermore, Cinema mode colors are neutral and color temperature is very close to the ideal 6500 K.

Real contrast was measured between 1250 and 1500:1 depending on the settings.  These values put this TV in the high end and the same as that of the 32 inch version.

Bright and neutral in Standard mode (screen shot above), the Aquos LC-46X20E was changed into Cinema mode to watch movies in the dark.

Moreover, other tests yielded similar results and in practice we noticed the same advantages and defects.  HD is splendid and SD (TV, DVD,...) produces an image which lacks a bit of sharpness.

On the other hand, we can more easily recommend this 46 version, a diagonal size that is more apt in reproducing all the splendor of Full HD images.  This was one of the points that cost the 32 version a star and which here puts the Aquos LC-46X20E amongst the LCD TVs we can recommend.

Note that you should change the format of the image to point by point in order to benefit from a better display for PC use.

-

3 HDMI

-

Good level of contrast, but well under what is announced

-

Good level of black

-

Optical audio digital connection

-

Rescaling of SD sources lacks a little sharpness

-

Some colors persist when screen turns black

Its HD display qualities, contrast and nice size make it an excellent choice for a Full HD TV. The image in SD (TV and DVDs) lacks a bit of sharpness.
