Good vibrations
This is a vibrating headset and your ears will shake…slightly. It is fun for the first few minutes but after a few hours it is just a bit too much. When listening to music, it feels a bit like having a subwoofer stuck to your head.
The Gembird 5.1 USB headset is inexpensive and that is a good point. But what sort of quality do you get?

Design

There is no doubt this is a low-cost product when you see the plastic painted blue and sliver.
However when you put on the headset, you forget this initial feeling of cheapness. The headset fits well, is comfortable and has a flexible microphone. So we stand corrected, even though it does not look great, it feels as good as any other… well, your ears will get feel the heat, but that was to be expected.
The built-in volume control is very basic (only volume and pause) and there is no clip.
Sound is transmitted in the earphones by default so if you do not want to hear everything that is going on around you during a game, you have no choice but turning it off.

Sound quality

The Gembird promises great sound quality. In terms of music, its not too bad and rather homogenous. No messy bass, screaming high notes and all that jazz. When you listen closer, the sound is a bit dodgy. After all, the device is made for gaming purposes. The games lack definition but there is enough sound spatialization. For the occasional gamer, it will be good enough. A devoted gamer will choose another product because the sense of blur gets in the way after a while.

All in all, if you don’t mind the looks and the build that are far from perfect and you are just a Sunday gamer, you will be happy with it.
