Extra monitor
How useful can a second PC monitor really be ?

Mainly to make space on your main screen and to get rid of things such as widgets, your IM or Photoshop tools.... Sadly, with this frame, unless your computer runs Windows XP, you can forget about it.

Once you have installed the dedicated Samsung application and your computer is linked, a right click will send you into double screen mode: its simple and straightforward.

The mouse will slide seamlessly from one screen to the next and Samsung’s software really makes it easy. Applications can be dragged and dropped. It is nice to have some novelty in the world of photo frames.

This is SPH-83H’s bigger brother. We tested the 8’’ model but a 10’’ is available. The frame can double as a second PC monitor for increased flexibility.
Novelty comes in terms of design, navigation, larger memory, increased brightness and some audio to make your slideshows dance.

Fits anywhere
The frame has a ultra slim profile and will fit in the decor of any room. If you look closely, you will see little flowers engraved in the plastic on the back. The SPH-83P has a good build and the tripod holds the frame well, either horizontally or vertically.
The power cable is long enough to put the frame wherever you want; not always the case with these products.

Control at your fingertips
There is no touchsceen display, but like on many other models launched recently, you can navigate through your content with your fingertip.
Hidden on the trim of the frame, the LED front touch buttons are simple and easy to use. When gently touched, the buttons light-up and then automatically blend back into the frame. The intuitive graphic interface - though not the most good-looking-is straightforward and easy to use.

Decent display
Colour reproduction is correct, even though it goes sometimes a bit blue-ish. Brightness (do not push it too far) is satisfying too.
Unfortunately this is a TN display, so the problem with viewing angles is present. If you look at it from below (if it is hanging or sitting on a high shelf), the screen will be black.
Music can accompany the slideshow, but do not get too carried away, there is a loss of detail, power and clarity in the sounds.

This frame will fit anywhere and boasts a capacity that is worth mentioning (1GB). Sadly it only doubles as a second PC monitor when using Windows XP.
