One for all
The dock will either take an iPod and iPhone or for 2 iPods…. But what if you are in a Apple-addict's household with 2 iPhones? Not to worry, the « iPod only » dock will gladly accept the iPhone too. However you won’t be able to use the phone features while in the non-dedicated dock.
Design
L'iMM 173 is one bulky unit but knows how to remain stylish with its black finish. The top part has various buttons (volume, radio FM…) and settings. You can set two alarms and choose for each whether you want to wake up with the radio, iPod or iPhone. Navigation within the menus is very user-friendly and the remote is easy to control.
The most interesting aspect of the iMM 173 is the possibility of docking and charging either two iPods or one iPod and iPhone. A button allows you to switch from one to the other, but you can do so by using the remote as well. If the iPhone starts ringing, you will hear it through the speakers.
Audio quality
In terms of sound, nothing to write home about. There is no point pumping up the volume too high, the sound would be far too distorted. The overall harmony is not the most fabulous, but is pretty good. The bass are there, though a bit whimsical at times. Of course the sound comes nowhere near to that of a hi-fi product, but as far as music alarms go, the iMM173 does well!
